Day 24 – 25: Gweta to Maun

Distance: 228km (Cumulative: 3 867km)
Moving time: 03:51
Average speed: 59km/h
Road surface: 100% Tar (potholed)

Accommodation: Camping
Sedia Hotel - R95 p.p

Large commercial campsite with lots of overlanders, cheapest place in Maun.

The road from Gweta to Maun is all tar, but for the first section to the vet fence it was full of pot holes. We could dodge, most of them, but then suddenly out of nowhere there would be potholes everywhere with no way of dodging them and then we’d hit it at 80km/h.
We got to Maun at 11:30 and decided to treat ourselves to Nando’s. It tasted quite good a buy the time we left the place was packed with long lines even going outside, so clearly in is popular.

We then restocked at Shoprite and Sefalana. For camping we wanted a place with good wifi or reception. We tried Old Bridge, but they were full, and Maun Camp only had WiFi in the evenings. We thus went to Sedia Hotel which had good 3G reception.
The campsite is gigantic and there’s almost always overland groups, but they didn’t really bother us as the campsite is so large.
We stayed for two nights working and swimming through the day.
