We left Wolvekraal at 08:20 and drove straight to Stellenbosch, only stopping for biltong in Laingsburg. In Stellenbosch we met up with Caro’s brother and our friend Jaco for a quick lunch. We had been craving Fulong Chow Mein for months, but the real deal didn’t live up to our imagination of what we had missed.

We then went to surprise Hugo’s mother at work in Stellenbosch and got the key to their house in Brackenfell. We wanted to surprise his father by ‘hiding’ in the house when he returned from work, but he surprised us by being home already as he took the day off to get the house ready for our potential return sometime in the next few days.

Hugo’s brother also came home and we all went for dinner at a Mexican restaurant in Durbanville.

And so our almost 8 month trip came to a sudden end.

Watch this space for hopefully some afterthoughts or summaries.

    Hi guys
I’ve really enjoyed reading your journal and I’m really impressed that you managed to write every day. I’d imagine it felt like a chore at times with poor internet etc. My husband and I are on the countdown to doing the same (ish) trip. P.E to Uganda and back starting in 2021 so it’s been really helpful and has got me really excited during this planning stage. We live in London (I’m Irish; he’s South African) and we plan to move to Ire. after the trip. Thanks for sharing your story.

Thanks for the comment. It is nice to know that all our hard work at least helped someone. Good luck with the rest of your planning (don’t plan too much 😉 ).
