Not visible from road, had no problems
We decided to try our luck with wild camping again on the way to Xade where we have booked for the 20th of September. Since it’s only an hour or two away, we only had to leave Ghanzi at around 15:00.
We thus packed up slowly and checked out at around 11:00. In Ghanzi we stopped at the Kalahari Arms Hotel and bought two 500mb Internet vouchers for 40 Pula. At last we had some almost usable internet. We also ordered burgers for 56 Pula which were well worth it.
Just before 15:00 Jaco went to buy some meat and bread at the Sefalana across the road and then we set off.
The gravel road to New Xade is one of the worst we’ve driven on with bad corrugation, potholes (yes potholes in Gravel is also possible) and soft sand patches. Just before New Xade the road to the Xade Gate turns off to the right and becomes a two-spoor sand track. Besides more corrugation there were bigger undulations that made the Hilux seesaw violently no matter what speed we were going. After about 10km we found a spot where we could camp 200m from the road.
It was already 17:00 and then soon after only one vehicle came past who presumably didn’t even see us.
For dinner we had leftover pasta and then went to bed again just after sunset.
