Day 230: Skukuza to Three Rondawels

Distance: 285km (Cumulative: 26 127km)
Moving time: 6:38
Average speed: 43km/h
Road surface: 96% Tar

Accommodation: Camping
Forever Resorts 3 Rondawels - R200 p.p

Expensive campsite, but good facilities. Awesome buffet at restaurant.

We managed to leave camp by 06:40, which is very early for us. We aimed for the Orpen gate and mostly stayed on the main tar roads. Caro drove most of the way to the gate, this being the third time on the whole trip that she sat behind the wheel.

On the way to the gate, we saw lions twice more and also a massive herd of Buffalo close to the Orpen gate. From the gate, we took the seemingly brand new R531 and then several other R roads to get to the Forever Resorts @ Three Rondawels. We were initially shocked by the R405 price tag for camping even though we were the only campers.

After using their free washing machine and tumble dryer and taking a hot (clean) bath, the price tag seemed more acceptable. Since the only cure for overspending is spending even more money we opted for the buffet dinner in the restaurant. At only R160 per person, we really got good value for money and ate way too much.
