Unawatuna

2018-07-21T14:47:08+02:00 July 17th, 2018|

From the Galle Fort we took a short Tuk-tuk ride to Unawatuna, an even more touristic place than the Fort. Unawatuna, famous for its long sandy beach, is lined with 100s of restaurants with seafood BBQs every night at prices way above our budget. The ocean was quiete rough and the water much colder than [...]

Galle

2018-07-12T19:43:46+02:00 July 12th, 2018|

From Male we used almost every possible transport mechanism to get to Galle. From our AirBnB in Male we took a taxi to the ferry terminal. From there we took a ferry to the airport. After flying to Colombo we took a bus to the train station. From the Colombo Fort Train Station we took [...]

Thoddoo

2018-07-10T17:31:46+02:00 July 10th, 2018|

From Bodufolhudhoo we came to Thoddoo via Rasdhoo. Unlike other local islands more than half of the island is covered with agriculture. Mostly fruit trees like papaya. The bikini beach is long en very secluded. There's however already 29 guesthouses on the island, but since it was monsoon season there were luckily not that many [...]

Rasdhoo

2018-07-08T06:55:26+02:00 July 8th, 2018|

From Bodufolhudhoo we had to go to Thoddoo via Rasdhoo as there are no direct ferries. We took the early morning speedboat from Bodufolhudhoo at 06:15 and then spent the whole day on Rasdhoo as the ferry to Thoddoo only left at 15:00. Due to some miscommunication we however missed the ferry and the guest house [...]

Male

2019-12-16T17:53:52+02:00 July 3rd, 2018|

Less than a week after researching the Maldives for the first time we landed at Velana International Airport. The single landing strip fills the whole length of the island. Directly outside the terminal we boarded the 15 minute ferry to Male, the capital of the Maldives. The island is only 2km x 2km, but has a [...]

Pokhara

2018-06-28T17:07:58+02:00 June 28th, 2018|

From Kathmandu we took a luxury bus to Pokhara. We've never heard of Pokhara before and basically just went there because our Airbnb host asked: "Are you going to Pokhara?", so we assumed that is what people do. We thus didn't have much of a plan, but we were pleasantly surprised by the beauty of [...]

Bhaktapur

2018-06-21T14:28:36+02:00 June 21st, 2018|

Bhaktapur is an hours drive from Kathmandu even though it is only 16km away. We took a local bus which only cost 30 rupees (R3.75) per person. At all entryways to the old city there are ticket booths with operators looking for any glimpse of white skin so that they can charge 1500 rupees entry [...]
