From Kathmandu we took a luxury bus to Pokhara. We’ve never heard of Pokhara before and basically just went there because our Airbnb host asked: “Are you going to Pokhara?”, so we assumed that is what people do. We thus didn’t have much of a plan, but we were pleasantly surprised by the beauty of Pokhara despite it being the second largest city in Nepal. We stayed for 6 nights and could easily stay there for a few months. We stayed next to the lake in a very cheap guest house of only R60 per night. We did some hiking in the hills next to the lake, hired a scooter for two days, went to the cinema and ate too much R12 Veg Burgers. In the non-monsoon season one has amazing views of the Annapurna mountain range, but we only managed to get a few glimpses of it one afternoon from the top of Sarangkot, it was actually quite exhilarating waiting for the clouds to move to spot a new peak.
